Can anyone who has a experience with Dell U2311H tell me what they think of it? Good, bad or indifferent.

I am thinking of buying one for all round PC purposes and different games.

Was deciding between this and a 120hz panel but I don't online FPS games generally.

It's a very nice general purpose and gaming monitor. It has low input lag and despite what the numbers may suggest in their notoriously misleading way it's actually a nice responsive monitor with relatively little trailing. Colour reproduction is also above and beyond most other monitors at the price (or below) with good accuracy once calibrated and pretty decent out of the box colours. I find that the anti-glare coating is a little aggressive for my tastes and this does tend to 'dull' the image slightly - but not everyone would have a problem with this. The consistency of range of colours really does add something to the experience and many people who have moved from a TN panel to the U2311H soon notice this aspect. I have also installed over 30 of these quite recently in some offices and they do suffer pretty poor luminance uniformity. It isn't noticeably worse than other monitors in the price range in this respect and the contrast is generally quite strong for an IPS panel. Overall; good monitor for the money, not perfect though.

To get perfect I would have to go over budget.
I think this could be the one I go for, though I plan to get 3 eventually and build my home flight sim (already have 2 other screens)

I'm using a u2311H and it's been brilliant, even in FPS games. I am considering buying another. Side by side, my Samsung T220 TN panel (which I used for 4 years) doesn't cut it compared to the Dell.

i have one, the step up from my old tn

Just felt that it's worth emphasising the word OLD so people don't think this monitor is miles better than any TN panel..

I don't think it's a massive step up from more modern TN panels to be honest.
It's got a very 'dull' look and the AG coating is horrible. Whilst it's accurate it's not very vibrant (mostly due to the AG coating).

I've owned lots of IPS panels (nec's and apple cinema displays) and this is the worst one.

Its main benefit over my TN monitors is colour accuracy (grey's are very grey rather than bluey, which is excellent).

I maintain that for the typical user who surfs the web, plays games, watches movies - this is not the best monitor. I think everyone who hypes about it has not used more expensive IPS panels before.

Would you choose the U2311H over say the Samsung P2450H?

In this case I am going to say no and buy a Samsung P2450

Well I went out and bought the Dell U2311H and I am very happy with it, out of the box colours and settings were very good, and once I switched to custom RGB the picture was fantastic.

I've been gaming online in FPS games and I have not noticed any input lag or ghosting in my play, and having switched from a 17" 1280 x 1024, the widescreen 16:9 has really improved my ability online as I see more of the action and can respond better.

Pleased you like it.

Good to know you didn't have any problems with input lag or ghosting.

I've read about people not liking the anti-glare coating on the screen (as in post #3), how have you found it?
