Explain M.2 SSD for me

Could someone please explain how the Whole m.2 ssds Work?

I have this mobo :

And to keep my computer neat and organized I was thinking about getting this ssd :

Is it correct that you just plug it in? No need for cables etc.
Can you boot via one of these? I mean will it show up in Windows as a normal drive c: d: etc?

Yep providing your board has a m.2 slot they just plug in and a single screw keeps it in place, I've got a 240gb one as my boot drive.
