Explain my degree to me.

Why are you all doing 3 year degrees? Isn't that a bit short? All the people I know have done either a 4 year Bachelors(Hons) or a 5 year Masters.... Oh and a mate who left after 3rd year with just the Bachelors (no honours).

Anyway mine was worked out as:

10% for 2nd year
25% for 3rd Year
65% for 4th Year

You guys have to do an extra year in Scotland.

Scottish uni's are 4 years not 3. from what im told, 1st year at a scottish uni is a bit like A-levels.

From what I've heard from friends in Scotland, 1st year is very A-level based and the workload is spread out nicely over the 4 years rather than cramming it into 3.

You don't really have to if you do the Advanced Highers/A Levels in appropriate subjects as you can get entry straight into second year of university on many courses. I personally wouldn't really recommend it as you're missing out on a lot of the social aspect and finding your place at university but it is certainly possible.

For English students who are studying in Scotland you get the fourth year free as far as I'm aware.

If you're not doing an honours degree, you won't have a classification, it will just be a BSc.

IIRC some science course at my old uni were weighted 1/3 2nd year 2/3rds 3rd year whereas engineering could be 1/4, 3/4

similarly with 4 year courses the 3rd and 4th years had equal weighting (basically did other optional level 3 modules and another project for 4th year) and were each worth either twice or three times the 2nd year.

I'm doing Computer Science BSc and mine is:
-First Year: 0%
-Second Year 25%
-Third Year 75% (of which 33% Dissertation/FYP)

? Thought 3 years was pretty standard for a degree

Anyway i'm doing music and i am in my 3rd year and as far as i know it is

1st:0% (have to pass everything)
2nd:40%
3rd:60%

Normal grade boundaries 1:1 (70%) 2:1 (60%)...e.t.c apply.
