Explaining religion and life and Universe..

Ok, well this is a bit different to my last thread.. Basically I was thinking last night and I swear I had an epiphany.. Basically the brain and the eye are both organs which havnt really been fully understood in a biological matter.

Basically my theory is that our brain is our "god". Our "universe" is our "brain" and that light connects the two through our eyes. They are seperated by dimensions. When we die our brain is sort of "disconnected" from our body and we either go to another dimension?..

There is a universe made up of planets and stars and "matter". This is "our" known universe. We could never travel out of the universe because its impossible to travel faster than the speed of light.

Life is basicaly for adding to this matter and for having feelings.

The argument from human perception
We call both the sky and blue jeans by the same color: Blue. However, clearly a pair of jeans and the sky are not the same color; moreover, the wavelengths of light reflected by the sky at every location and all the millions of blue jeans in every state of fading constantly change, and yet we somehow have an idea of the basic form Blueness as it applies to them.

argument from perfection
No one has ever seen a perfect circle, nor a perfectly straight line, yet everyone knows what a circle and a straight line are. Plato utilizes the tool-maker's blueprint as evidence that Forms are real

Perceived circles or lines are not exactly circular or straight, and true circles and lines could never be detected since by definition they are sets of infinitely small points. But if the perfect ones were not real, how could they direct the manufacturer?

Ye anyways. ive been rambling and i think some of you may get where im coming from. Obviously I dont fully believe this if there is actually anything to believe.

What the **** are you on.

Yea ive been reading a lot of stuff like that. Pretty interesting.

Ill answer your question though. The difference between plants and us is that humans and animals have feelings, thoughts, ideas, dreams etc.

Can you prove that though?

These are what shape "our" universe.

You really need to define "shape" and universe"

For most people universe means the big collection of matter and energy around us. (usually excluding the self which it actually includes)

Now how exactly do your perceptions shape this?

If your eye/nerve/brain is damaged and you perceive red to be blue.

The wavelength of light hitting your eye is not altered by your perception.

As such the universe (outside of your physical being which will be different due to the different chemicals released to make you see blue instead of red and to produce your reaction) has not changed.

Only you have changed.

Seriously though go watch dark star.

It will show you how philosophy can be misunderstood if you try to look at it in basics rather than in depth.

Nix, there is no ego in what im saying. all im saying is that our universe is our life. Theres no point in people trying to find religion of gods or anything like that because when we die we just start the whole process again.

Tefal: of course I cant.. But it cant be proven either.

Yea i saw that final bit in darkstar. Basically philosophy is just never ending questions and answers lol. Confusing stuff

Ye but there not though. Where are there studies explaining how the brain works exactly?.. Nerves are stimulated and that goes up into our brains which is how we feel pain etc. Thats hardly explaining it is it.

Are you serious, I'm not going to spend my day sourcing you thousand of studies from university, hospital etc etc.

There is ego involved, you just haven't realised it. People are too quick to beat their own chest when it comes to how amazing humanity is. The truth is not as black and white as they'd like it to be. As I said, it's all about perspective.

We don't know if we as a unique individual re-start the process only to find ourselves asking the same questions as our soul inevitably grows older. It's a romantic idea, but we have no proof of it. Chances are, we die, will decompose to our base parts and one day eventually pool in a giant cloud to give birth to a new star whereby the process of life based around the hydrological cycle may or may not be statistically fortunate enough to be formed. Individuals will always be asking these questions, despite their absurdity because we are - either through direct or indirect consequence of evolutionary traits - hard-wired to do so. Remember, we are story-tellers for a reason.

I'm surprised nobody has brought this up yet:

Douglas Adams said:
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I always had a soft spot for the bacteria that use uranium to make energy from water.

I personally put Nuclear powered microbes that live 2 miles down in solid rock above humans in the "well adapted" tables.

Indeed, compared to them we're not very well adapted at all as we're just a bunch of hairless apes that have to use a variety of things to adapt our environment to suit us a bit better. Quite remarkable hairless apes in many ways but we're also pretty rubbish in many other ways.

That's possibly one of my favourite passages in any Douglas Adams book.

I reckon if we reached the edge of the universe, and crossed the boundary, there would be a sign saying "congratulations, you have reached level 2."

Personally I think that god is a teapot and we are cups, however we exist as cups in a higher dimension it just so happens in this dimension the manifestation of our cup selves is this human form.

And the devil is a doylie.
