Has anyone had one of these go bang on them before? Mine just did, rather load bang, and a nice smell of burning. Cant imagine why it suddenly decided to commit suicide.

Think i might get a Zalman as its replacement.

You seem to have bad luck with burning pc parts :(

*Recalls msi mobo thread*

Never had a problem with any of my arctic cooling products. *touches wood*

just stopped working or spun itself to death? Must still be under the 6 year guarantee surely

Just went bang, motor blew as theres a large scorch mark on the back of the plastic. Probably is still under warranty, not sure i can be bothered sending it back to them though.

And yes, PC parts do tend to try and blow themselves up around me:p

6 Year thing always seemed like a sales pitch to me. My old freezer 64 got noisey after a month. Did your PC shutdown and save your GFX card?

I was sat in front of it fortunately, i was worried it may of fried the fan header on the card, but its still working with the stock sink.

If the warranty involves sending the card to them, it'll probably be just as cheap getting a zalman VF700. And a lot quicker.

ive had 2 of the fans on them go pop never bothered with the hassle of sending them back as i had a feeling my card was dying anyway, may of been related, so now ive just got a nice leadtek that comes with a half decent stock cooler

Occasionally a small black hole forms in the centre of the fan mechanism due to centrifugal forces tearing a rift in the space/time continuum. the resulting gravitational forces accelerate the fan to such a degree that it creates temperatures capable of sustaining nuclear fusion, unfortunately European guide lines on the manufacturing of these products does not stipulate that the " product components must be capable of withstanding temperatures of 15 million degree’s C a.k.a. the Centre of the Sun. "

This then results in the loud bang you hear which is actually the start of another alternate universe in another dimension where everyone is evil and has a beard, known scientifically as the "Big Bang"

I hope this explains things in detail for you. :D

i had one go pop on a 9800pro! nearly took the card with it to as i wasnt sitting infront of it. all i noticed was Ati tool temp running and reporting

when i did sit back to it, no more artic coolers for me, zalaman now and much better cooler it is to.

sits in my sons PC now!
