Well I never.......

The student apparently had a bizarre habit of chewing gum after dipping it into citric acid,

I feel sorry for his parents having to walk in and see such a sight.

Citric acid is what's used to give sour sweets their sourness, maybe he just liked the flavour.

citric acid tastes really nice.

Mate brought some crystals of it back from turkey once, was great.
