exploding pump syndrome

this is what has just happened to my Acrylic Dual Bayres/Pump Combo with Two DDC

one minute fine the next i was was like somone had just released mustard gas into my living room

any ideas why one of my pumps would just decide to go and cross the streams on me

Dunno. I have used that same res/pump combo and I did notice that they can get pretty hot sitting next to each other like that.

You can actually buy heat sinks for these pumps..

I bought one and the tiny allen heads rounded off before I could get it tightened properly. The bloody thing's still sitting there unuseable

DDC units have always been a temperamental device. They were the next big thing even way back (in 05?) but they got really hot and after having one fail on me even with active airflow over it I went back to D5s - no idea if things improved over the years.

Could your fluid have somehow leaked into the electronics?
