Behind you... Naked!
My basic system is running Windows 10 Pro 64Bit.

I have started to get an error the last day or two that I have been unable to solve, and just about 15 minutes ago, I had another error popping its head up, that may or may not be linked.

Anyway, whenever I open a folder that has some Media files in it, an error window pops up.

It says with a window title of "explorer.exe - Aplication Error"

The instruction at 0x0007FF8E12D349d referenced memoy at 0x00000 ( lots of Zeros ). The memory could not be read.

Click ok to terminate.

Now, I have done the usual tricks of making sure that all my drivers are up to date, I have also gone back a few versions, just in case, and I have gone through the system making sure that there is no background junk messing my system about.

As its only the Media files that seem to cause this, I have tried to pin point exactly why or what types and it does not seem to care... DVDs do it when I open the VIDEO_TS Folder, and any others like MKV AVI or MP4 etc all seem to do it randomly too.

Anyway, before I format & Reinstall, I tought I'd ask you guys!

Seems like it's a memory error, I would try and run memtest for a good few hours to check your ram and see if it finds any issues or try one stick of ram and if it still errors try with the other stick providing you have more than one stick of ram in the pc.

Have you installed any 3rd party driver packs or anything like that? They are a disaster waiting to happen.

Also could be a 3rd party Explorer addin. CCleaner, Tools, Startup, Context Menu -take out the junk.

As a test, create another user account and see if it happens in that.

The thought had occurred, however I am using 4x8GB Corsair and I recently upped from 4x8GB Team Elite ( hoping that I could clock it to hell like it did with the GSkill, but not happening ) and it does the same whether I use Corsair, Team Elite or GSKill.

3rd Party = Disaster.
Aint they just. I used to use plenty of such tools, but no longer. I think that Win 10 has been an O/S that I have simply been paranoid with and I never installed somethign unless I actually needed it, and as time went on, I realised that I dont need anything really... O&O DeFrag, Virtual CloneDrive, VNC, Team Viewer, a couple pf others that I have used for years, but I do use these quite often. I have removed them while I do some tests of course, but the errors are still happening!

Another account? - no, I will do that and get back on the results...

What type of files? Audio, Video or image? Usually I would suspect dodgy codecs with video files as explorer tries to render an image for the files causing the crash. What is your default video player? If you don't already, use VLC as default for all video files.

I found windows 8 suffered the same issues and 10 it has happened to me once. Let us know how you resolved it.
