Exposing Heightism

Pretty girls with Scottish accents make my special place tingle. Not sure if that counts as prejudice though?
Well, a positive bias :D.

But I'm sure some accents are enough to put you off, as are some heights, weights or a hundred other factors.

I don't find extremely tall girls attractive (looks like some beast which may destroy me), or incredibly short ones (remind me too much of a child) - I don't find stick thin women attractive (look too fragile) or massively fat ones (might eat me).

As long as you treat each group with respect & like humans you don't have to find them attractive to be a reasonable person.

The key problem is when people are rude, insulting, don't give them jobs or cause other trouble based off these factors.

I don't think you can blame women for not finding many short men that attractive, an obvious genetic drive will exist for women to go for men who fit certain pre-designated criteria - as you can't find blame men who find women with large breasts/nice waist to chest ratio attractive either (both will be as a result of our natural attraction criteria).

Obviously I'm talking averages here.

And if their family owns a distillery (not Bells) then...

I'd like to complain about heightism too, who thought it was a good idea to put sinks so low to the ground on average, who determined that it should be so difficult to get jeans with a leg length longer than 34" without a waist of 36"+ and as for the people who install cash machines at the perfect height for the severely vertically challenged meaning I have to stoop just to get cash out...

Life is tough all round it seems, there's advantages and disadvantages to pretty much every physical and mental trait you could imagine but a number of shallow (and possibly hypocritical) people on Twitter aren't something I find myself willing to get worked up over.

Be careful with that one, once caught a group of women discussing anything under 7" was small.

Did everyone they'd been with before have an inability to measure and do the old pretending that each 3" was in fact 6" or something? 6" was the average size last time I heard.

I'm 5'11, but my younger sister is 6'3" and my little brother is 6'5". I'd gladly swap height with either of them. I attribute my diminished stature to the fact that I suffered from chronic asthma as a child and was treated with inhaled corticosteroids. Corticosteroids are known to inhibit growth in children :(

semi-pro waster, why do you hate wheelchair users? Do you think they should be prevented from being able to withdraw money just to spare you a few moments of discomfort?

;)

You're 5'11 you silly mongo.

I hate everyone who causes me inconvenience equally... :p

But more seriously as I was attempting to point out we're all inconvenienced and judged for a variety of reasons, some of which we can influence and some that we can't but it's rarely going to be worth getting worked up over a few silly people choosing to express their views badly.

To be fair this threat is not about inconvenience, it's about discrimination based on height, ie stuff like manlet, teasing, work place discrimination, and what you saw on twitter.

The inconvenience of opposite sex not liking certain traits or being too tall to need to bend all the time or too short to tip toe or have a step stool with you is not what this threat is about, although some whining about inconveniences were mentioned.

Another observation that I would make is the smaller people tend to deal with a lot of crap because of it, so either end up with a chip on their shoulder, or have diminished social confidence.

I've heard of a fair few short guys who didn't care and still got the girls because they had the confidence. If someone literally told you "you're perfect in every way but you're just too short" I'd say bullet dodged. You don't want to be with someone like that.

If 99.9% of women won't date short men then presumably they also won't sleep with short men. If this is the case then where exactly is this short gene manifesting itself from? My theory is that short men are so virile that they only have to look at woman to get them pregnant, otherwise I cannot explain this phenomenon of short blokes.

Short mothers

(and the prevalence of midgets in pornography :D )

Fortunately genetics don't always play there part.

Being 6'1, I don't really care. I've only ever dated one girl who was about my height, and found that a bit weird. It was almost like I had to treat her as an equal :p

The majority of girls I've been with have been 5'3 or 5'4 - by happy coincidence, rather than explicitly aiming for that group, but I do tend to prefer smaller girls.

I don't see the problem with girls wanting a tall man, I also would prefer a tall leggy woman, thats not a bad thing. I also want one that is beautiful and intelligent. I don't see a problem with seeing being short as a bad thing, it is a bad thing. tough luck.

I am 6.0, wouldn't mind being a couple of inches taller but I can't complain really.
