Extending the range of a Sky box

So my Sky box in my bedroom is hidden away inside a walk in wardrobe and the TV mounted on the wall. The only problem is that I am unable to change channels unless I walk up to the box (out of my bed may I add!) and do it manually.

Is there a way that I can extend the range of the infrared controller. I imagine there may be something I can place over the IR part of the box and then place a receiver above/below the box. Does such a thing exist?

I understand how it works for multiple TV's, I currently have mine connected via scart. Would I therefore need to replace the scart connection and use the rf out on the box instead? Otherwise, can I leave the scart cable connected and just use the magic eye for the purpose of extending the IR range?
