Extending the range of a Sky box

So my Sky box in my bedroom is hidden away inside a walk in wardrobe and the TV mounted on the wall. The only problem is that I am unable to change channels unless I walk up to the box (out of my bed may I add!) and do it manually.

Is there a way that I can extend the range of the infrared controller. I imagine there may be something I can place over the IR part of the box and then place a receiver above/below the box. Does such a thing exist?

A well known electrical store starting with M and ending with a N does something called the sky eye which extends the ir on the sky box. Sounds like just what you are after.

I understand how it works for multiple TV's, I currently have mine connected via scart. Would I therefore need to replace the scart connection and use the rf out on the box instead? Otherwise, can I leave the scart cable connected and just use the magic eye for the purpose of extending the IR range?

Leave the scart connected and just connect the magic eye to the box. it will work exactly how you want it to.

Make sure you connect it to the rf output that has the 9v power supply and turn the power supply on for the magic eye.

no, the rf cable for the eye goes in to the 9v rf . this controls the box

i do belive this works as the scart and rf will be out putting a signal regardless if there connected to.

so have the scart lead connected and then use the eye in the 9v rf to control the box

i have one upstairs so if you want me to test the eye on my box downstairs ill be more then happy to,

if you want me to confirm it works i can do. the eye will let you do every thing the normal box does with the remote
