Extending WiFi coverage

Hi All,

I am sure this has been covered many times but despite googling and searching these forums I still haven't been able to find details on the right solution for me.

I am wanting to extend WiFi coverage but do not have the option to route network cable so it has to be wireless.

So, my questions is, if I purchase a WiFi repeater does the repeater have to have a separate SSID or can I have one SSID that devices will always connect on?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

You can use the same SSID (and password/key).

Traditional repeaters will effectively half the bandwidth available. It might not be an issue, but it's something to be aware of.

As well as repeaters consider Powerline adapters. Either a standard set with an access point plugged in at the remote end, or a set with the wireless already built in.
