Hi all, we were having problems with our internet it kept loosing synch and having ridiculously fluxuating levels of SNR.

We popped it in the test socket and now we synch at 3900 kbps and previously we had been synching at 2500 kbps at most. Which has taken my max dl speed from 250kb/s to 390kb/s which is a huge jump considering we live in the middle of nowhere about 6.3 km from the exchange.

If we rewire internally to the phone socket we use to use up until a few days ago (which is probably 2 metres max) am I likely to go back to 2500 kbps synching? or will it hopefully stay around 3900 ive heard mixed reviews about telephone extension etc.

The more and longer extensions you have from your BT Master Socket, the noise there will be in your line and hence worse performance.

A few extra metres of cable shouldn't make a noticeable difference if it's done properly.

Make sure the cable is twisted pair, and that the ringer wire isn't connected. You want CW1308 spec. or better. Solid core network cable works well if you have some spare.
