I'm looking for a high capacity, portable external HDD.

I like the look of the Icy Box IB-290StUSD-B which comes with a docking station.

Thinking about pairing it with a WD50000BEVT 2.5" SATA HDD.

Does anyone have any experience/feedback on these 2 products. Does the Icy Box come with a 5.25" mounting kit ?

Any views or commenst would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Lee.

Cheers William. I don't have any spare 3.5" external bays, so I may need a 5.25" convertor.

Hi gee, i bought this combination in the end. The HDD enclosure fits flush with the dock when inserted. To eject, you just push the drive enclosure in slightly and it springs back enough out of the dock for you to grip it and pull it out. Very easy to operate. My only complaint is that the disk isn't a completely snug fit in the enclosure, it will "rattle" a little if you shake it. There is probably an easy way to sort this out, but I haven't bothered as I don't go around shaking it.
