Hi, been having a problem that's been puzzling me for quite some time.
Ive been looking for a 2TB 2.5" SATA HDD, simple, however my searches seem to pull up drives ranging from £110 to £130+ if they are internal.
On the other hand 2TB 2.5" externals range from about £70-£85. This would be alright if like most external HDDs you could pop them open and take the SATA HDD out but they all seem to be USB 3.0 built into the HDD itself making it useless. Bought a western digital HDD from amazon with this problem a few weeks ago.
Does anyone know a external HDD that has a SATA interface or where I can just get a internal 2.5 for under £100, thanks :)

Hi,
I got a Toshiba 2tb external USB 3 drive and opened it up as I was told the drive would fit in my laptop. The drive inside is a standard 2.5” SATA 2(or 3?) 2TB drive but it is too fat to fit in the laptops drive cage. Think its about 20mm thick.

You wouldn't happen to have the model number would you? I've noticed Toshiba but there newer ones might have changed from sata to just USB.

Its: Toshiba HDTB120EK3CA Basics 2TB USB 3.0 2.5 Inch Hard Drive.

here is a pic of the internal connection:

The thing just unplugs and its a normal SATA plug. Remember that its about 20mm thick so will not fit in most laptops.
There is a video on youtube showing how to open the case, its for the 500gb one but its the same case.
