I know blu-ray and Mac isn't immediately a match made in heaven but can someone answer a noob question and let me know if, for example, the samsung external BR ROM/DVD-RW drive would be mac compatible?

I'd like to rip some of my blu-rays to network drive using my MBA so I can stream them to the TV and MBA.

In theory it should do, there are mac progs to do that but I use an internal BD drive for exactly what you are saying. Bear in mind with your MBA it will take a loooooong time to rip and encode.

Yeah was expecting that but hopefully can just leave it overnight to get on with it

You also needs loads of space as the way to do it on make is to rip the bluray in its entirety and then encode, so you're talking (50GB+) for each BD
