External disk no drive letter

hmm, WinXP can't see my external HDD (old 120 sata caviar in an Icybox).

Its in device manager under disks as USB storage device, and the icon on the taskbar only lets me 'safetly remove mass storage device'. Looking at disc managment just shows my two internal HDD and two DVD drives, but no this.

So it seems only in Device manager, but it won't assign a drive letter to access

SOK fixed, jumper on back of drive removed and it works ....!

I had this, you need something like partition magic to format the drive ( assuming its a new drive )

Or format it under disk management in the administrative tools section of your control panel.
