I just got myself a WD Elements 2TB drive, and I'm transferring a lot of large files to it (mostly movies ranging from 700mb to 12gb). During the copy my system seems to be hanging every few seconds.
When I first start the process, the progress bar moves quite happily at a speed of 100mb/sec or more, then totally freezes and suddenly reads 70 mb/sec...then again and drops to 20 mb/sec which is about as low as it goes. Even at this speed though, my system will become unresponsive for up to ten seconds every half a minute or so.
Any ideas? Bad drive maybe?
