Hey Guys,

I have a 250GB Maxtor One Touch external drive on which the disk failed. I bought a 400GB Samsung to replace the disk but I'm having problems with it. When I fire it up with the Samsung in it the drive only shows as 128GB in Windows Disk Management which I guess is related to 48bit LBA. However, I put the drive into my PC (it's PATA) and using the Samsung Disk Manager initialised and formatted it to 400GB and that works OK. Putting it back into the OneTouch it still shows as 128GB.

Why should this be? The enclosure had a 250GB disk in it initially so it should be able to cope with disks of this size shouldn't it? If not, can anyone recommend a quiet replacement enclosure which will work?

Cheers
