I recently put my 500GB WD drive in an eSATA caddy with a small built-in fan to cool the thing. Usually in the past i've simply got by with external caddies without fans, but i'm living in a hotter country now and room temps are around 30C.

Anyway, the drive gets to about 65C after a couple of hours and was wondering if this is a little too hot for comfort? The caddy is aluminium built, but there is no way for the heat to dissipate properly due to room temperatures.

All my other drives are around 40C after a few hours, which leads me to believe something isn't right. :p

Cheers for the heads up doc!

The drive is purely for backup anyway, so i'll just leave it off whenever idle.

Man, 65C... :D
