Hi all,

I'm trying to setup an FTP server at home that I can access using a Dynamic DNS address that I have setup.

I have followed guides to setup the FTP within IIS (I'm running 2012 r2) and can access it from within my LAN.

However I don't seem to be able to access it externally, using either the DDNS address or if I try and directly connect to my external IP.

I have forwarded port 21 to the relevant internal IP.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Ali

What is it going to be used for?

VPN into network then use local FTP.

This. Most secure way for all external access, FTP or otherwise. Set up a VPN server on your router (Or Raspberry Pi or something if your router doesn't support VPNs).

What kind of content is it you are trying to access? Is something cloud based an option?

If cloud based isn't possible then VPN and FTP locally would be the best solution.
