External hard convert to NTFS

Hi all, as the title says really, I've got a 320 GB external hard drive that is FAT32, I want to convert it to NTFS so I can transfer bigger files to it, can anyone see a problem with doing this, I will back up all my data on it just in case.

Should be fine, have done it myself a few times. Simply using the "convert x: /fs:ntfs" command will do the job.

Back up the data then Just reformat it in windows using NTFS

Why go through the effort of backing up and restoring/reformatting when you can use the convert cmd tool that's standard with Windows?

Of course backing up beforehand is a good idea just in case anything goes wrong with the convert, but the chances are it'll be fine, so converting will save a whole bunch of time having to copy everything back over to it afterwards.
