Hey everyone

I need an external hard drive for my laptop, I once had a Western Digital MyBook (The older version) which eventually died on me after 6 months if that.

This has put me off completely from using external hard drives, has things changed or are there better companies? or wud it be better to use an internal hard drive in an enclosure? in which case what one, akasa, ac ryan? a different make?

What do you think?

Cheers
Matt

All drives can fail for myriad reasons, external drives have the problem of being subject to extra mechanical shock as they're moved about. If it's for your laptop only you could get a bigger (500GB) drive for interal use, take the exisiting drive out and put it in a 2-1/2" drive enclosure. That would give you more interal drive space and an extra external drive.
