Hi there, I have an ADATA SH93 external drive which I have used for transporting files back and forward to my girlfriends place and mines. The drive hasn't been used in a while, but still has quite a lot of data on it that I would ideally like to keep.
However, upon plugging it in to my desktop I am told that the drive needs formatting before it can be used. Bummer, data lost. Or so I thought.
I also have a WDTV Live media player, so I connected the drive to that and lo and behold the WDTV detects the drive and I can navigate through the folders just fine. I can even map the drive as a network dive, which as a last resort I could then transfer the files via the network. This is unfortunately EXTREMELY slow.
I notice that the drive has a folder called "system volume information" which I am assuming has somehow became corrupted. Is there anything I can do to salvage the data on the drive other than copy the stuff over my wireless network using the WDTV as a hub. Bare in mind there is 113GB of data on the drive which would take approximately 70 hours to copy wirelessly.
