External hard drive not showing SMART data

Hi, I've replaced a 1tb hdd in my seagate desktop external drive with a 2tb western digital green drive, the seagate one showed smart data, obviously the 2tb one supports smart, but it isn't showing any data in HD tune, where the previous drive would.

I'd like to see the data to monitor the temps on the drive, any ideas why its not showing?

Try crystal diskinfo. http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html/

Its mainly down to the USB controller and how it passes the info.

Thanks, its shown up this time. Its reported my system drive - a little under a year old that its current pending sector count is marked as a caution, is this serious?

How many sectors are pending? (read the raw value) How many reallocated sectors are there?.

Reallocated sector count is showing as okay. Current 252, worst 252, threshold 10
