hey guys! I need an external hard drive that will be compatible with my tv so i can connect it via usb to play my movie library. I did buy one before but it didnt work, were as my usb sticks work fine.

can anyone spec me a 1 or 2TB and if you can make it a compact and as slim as possible.

thanks!:)

You probably needed to reformat the drive. ;)

Check the TV manual and it'll tell you what format it needs to be in...

As MagicBoy has already mentioned - partition type is likely to blame. It's probably formatted as NTFS if it was used on a Windows PC.

Likelihood is that the TV will require it in FAT32 format.

A WD passport is what i use and have had no problems with it thus far, A word of warning some TV's can be extremely picky with what type of video file they will play, for example my LG will only play a certain type of DIVx file and nothing else...

Edit: with the WD drives the Dummys you see in high street shops will be the dimension of the 1tb or less drives, the 2tb drives are twice as thick, as they are just two 1tb drives in the same enclosure (AFAIK), The 2tb drive is still very portable though.

Also first post to me :)
