External hard drive, usb power supply?

Dad is after an external hard drive that has no mains power supply? Is it possible to get one that runs through USB only?

No most of the 3.5" will need a separate power source and 2.5" drives use 2 USB ports.

Any 2.5" HD which requires more than 0.5ma will require an extra USB cable for power or an AC adapter..

most of them just have a double ended cable that you plug into two sockets (2.5 drives that is)
