External Hard Drive, Which?

Hi, recently got a new computer but i need to get all my itunes and pictures over to new comp from old. been told about 2 things an easy transfer cable? or an external hard drive?

i got over 10,000 itunes and 1000's of pic's, just need some advice basically which would be the best way how to do it, either cable or external hard drive and if so which hard drive at a reasonable price.

i can't take my old harddrive out and put into new just to let you know.

p:s the itunes i would have thought i could have put my ipod into new computer with latest itunes downloaded and it would have put the tunes over from it thus not needing to put it on an external,

If both computers are on the same network try setting up a simple peer to peer network with Homegroup

Once set up and you can see the files that you want to transfer... cut/copy and paste.

Not elegant or quick but no expense of buying a external harddrive or mucking about with cables
