I am wanting to transfer all my CD collection and some of my avi's onto a standalone hard drive box. I currently use a 500GB SATA drive in a caddy but really need RAID1 as if I am going to put all my music on this I would be devastated if one of the drives failed.
I need it to be compatible with my PS3 so I can stream straight from the box. I don't have a desktop PC but have a laptop which I would like to use it with aswell.
I have been looking at some Buffalo network storage devices, but would prefer to buy some sort of caddy and source the drives for it myself. Plus I don't think the PS3 would be able to access it with it being network based. My current external drive is obviously USB and FAT32 so the PS3 can see it.
Any recommendations? I have looked at Netgears Storage Central but haver used a few in the past and they were very unreliable.
