i have a question may be totaly silly but here goes

scenario : i have downloaded totaly legaly some dvds from the internet now my hard drive is full , so i buy a external seagate 400gb harddrive when i click system backup it copys everything from my harddrive no problems a exact copy , what my question is , is when i then delete the backed up dvds from my laptop as i have a copy on my external drive which is now removed , the next time i back up will it delete the film from my external harddrive as it is no longer on my laptop or is it a constant back up ie anything added stays there until i delete it , i have gone long way round the houses but i am sure you get my question ;) ;)

In other words will the backup software keep the 2 drives in sync?

I've no idea to be honest but I would assume that there will be an option in the software to specify what it does. The other thing to do is check what the contents of the external disk look like, there's porbably a path which contains all the files from your laptop so if you move the files you want to keep out of that path they should be safe.
