External Hard-Drives future uses ?

as far as I know you can rip any external hard drive apart, should just be normal drives in there with an added controller for usb etc

unless it's 2 drives in the external box and it's in raid, i imagine that wouldn't work

If there was nothing on the drives and you just wanted the extra space/speed of putting them in a PC or NAS , then i cannot see a reason why they will not work.

My mate just knocked his Buffalo 1TB off the desk and it split open (killing the HDD in the process :() but it's just a Samsung drive with a power/sata PCB plugged in at the back. Remove it with a screwdriver and you can connect the drive up how you wish.
