external harddrive causing interference

My tvout works great with no interference on the tv. But then as soon as i plug in my external hardrive to the usb port i get interference on the tv. I have tryed using different ports on my laptop but makes no difference. Is there anything i can do?

Does it only cause interference when powered/spinning?

yes only wen turned on. can be turned on and right next to pc no problem its just as soon as plug in the usb

Hmm, weird. Don't have a clue tbh. Some kind of magnetic interference is what I first thought... but it can be on but so long as it is not USB plugged, then there is no interference. TBH, only thing I can think of is an overloaded PCI bus... maybe bandwidth is reduced when using the USB HDU.

i used another external harddrive and the same thing happened. im using a laptop if that makes any difference? was just thinking it could be to do with grounding?
