External Harddrive sticky?

Not the most usefull post in the world but there seems to be so many external harddrive threads, i was just suprised to see someone hasnt written up alittle help page (sticky)

When i was buying one for my friend one of the main factors is USB 2.0 and Firewire because i was told that USB is the turtle and Firewire is the Hair (But in this story the turtle doesnt win)!

Anything else is just manifactures and thats personall preference as far as im aware.

To be honest there isn't terribly much involved with external HDD enclosures. Biggest factors in choosing is maximum capacity it supports and type of connection between PC and enclosure.

Maximum capacity is for those enclosures that do not have their own power pack and rely soley on the USB connection for power.

Other than the above there isn't much else to say about enclosures.
