when ever i plug in my External HardDrives in to the Back USB port and add a lot of files or open a folder on the Ext HD which contains a lot of files it seems to Crash my pc, it just Freezes and i have to press the Restart button.

I have a WB Passport Drive

And a 250GB WD My Book which you plug in to a power source and usb

Any ideas why this is? cant backup my Pc on to them Just DVD.

yea ive tried the passport drive on another pc but, that pc just dies when i plug it in, that pc hasnt enough power i dont think to use it, that pc is pretty rubbish so.

Just need more patience mate. I had a folder on my computer with about 90,000 things in for a bit. Took a good 3 minutes to open the folder on a overclocked quad core.
Going through usb just slows things down more, issue the command then go for a walk :)

The PC shouldn't die. If it hasn't enough power the Passport just won't spin up fully and won't be recognised.
