Hi,

I'm looking at getting an external hdd, probably 1Tb or 1.5Tb in size, been looking at either WD Elements, Seagate FreeAgent or Toshiba StorE drives.

Does anyone have any experience of one or t'other?

What are read/write speeds like, obviously over usb will be slower than sata but is it painfully slow?

Is there anything better for about £70?

Cheers

I've got two 2TB StorE drives, they're ok, but limited to the usb transfer rates. Apart from that they do the job well.

I'm using one for Time Machine and the other as a data store. The good thing about the StorE chassis, is that you can easily take the disk out and replace with stock 3.5" larger disks later on.
