External HD Probs

I bought a Maxtor OneTouch III 60GB drive and it was workikng fine but for some reason now when I plug it into the computer (Vista) it makes a clicking noise and it wont show in My Computer and I cant access Disk Management but when I plug it into the laptop (XP) it works fie no probs.
Anyone have any suggestions as to whats wrong??

Maxtor drives are well known for the problems they have. Have you tried it in a different PC?

As I said in the original post it works fine on our Laptop.
