I've got a pretty cramped PC thats getting rather toasty with 4 SATA hard drives in it. I've been thinking of taking them out and putting them in some sort of enclosure, but still plug them straight into the motherboard using a sata bracket in one of the pci slots I got with my asus a8n. Does such an enclosure exist does anyone know, or am I going to have to make something out of sticky backed plastic and washing up liquid bottles?

cheers

And maybe coupled with this, if you have no external SATA port.

Vantec Serial ATA PCI Host Card (CC-000-VA)
Serial ATA (SATA) is the latest form of computer connectivity, featuring faster transfer speeds, easier configuration, and the ability to hot swap drives. Perhaps the best feature is that it does so without being as expensive as SCSI drives. The Vantec SATA PCI Card is an affordable way to add the benefits of SATA to your current system, or add an additional SATA device. The Vantec SATA PCI card also features an external SATA connector as well, allowing you to connect external SATA devices for further expandability. Take advantage of SATA technology with the Vantec SATA PCI card.

- Up to 3 times faster than USB 2.0.
- Easily hot-swap SATA devices.
- Internal and external Serial ATA ports
- Easy Installation
- Includes Low Profile PCI bracket

Price: £11.95 (£14.04 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Cheers guys. I have sata ports and power ready to go from the back of the PC, I just need a box with no electronics or anything to plug the drives in to keep them safe. Looks like i'll have to DIY something!
