I've had a 500GB Samsung M2 for a few years, and about a month ago it started giving me issues. When I'm in Windows, i'll randomly lose access to the drive (as if it's ejected) and the blue LED which always stays on, turns off (the drive still feels like its on/working though as you can feel the vibrations). If I try to shutdown the regular way, it hangs... when I hard reset, it hangs at POST too, until I unplug the drive. It has happened so far around 3 times in the past month.

I ran chkdsk yesterday, which came up with no problems, and I've just finished doing an error scan with HDTune, which came back clean too

Any ideas?

Does sound like a failing drive, I presume you tried a different usb cable?

Looking at the SMART info on that screenshot of Crystaldisk something is definitely not right, not 1 of the values has changed other than temperature which leads me to distrust that readout. Every drive will produce Raw Read Errors over it's lifetime, even the Hardware ECC shows zero errors which is again highly unlikely unless you have never turned on the drive until now.

Time to make a backup, is there any warranty left on it?
I would try to find a diagnostics program made by Samsung to read the SMART data correctly.
