Hello everyone,

My dad wants a main PC to store all his files on, Pictures, music etc...

He wants to access them using his tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab) and I have found that ES File Explorer does this well, but he has a 1tb external HDD to use, but ES won't recognise the USB drives...

Is there any solutions to this? I am thinking about using one of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CC-005-SR&groupid=701&catid=49&subcat=424 but I'm not sure if it will show the HDD as an internal HDD or still as an external? It will be plugged in most of the time, but would need the flexibility of taking it out, hence the card with the external slot.

Could I get a cable to plug into the Mobo and trail out the back of the case? The plug on the HDD is a mini usb connection :)

Any tips would help, I need to get looking for parts now! Sorry for the mouthful by the way :P

Thanks,
Cam

Isn't there any other solution? A cable that plugs into the mini usb on the HDD and a sata connector to plug into the motherboard?

I will ask if he wouldn't mind to use the HDD internal and take it out of the enclosure, but i was just wondering if it was possible

Why not just pop the drive into a NAS enclosure and connect it to your wifi router?

How would I be able to access that from the tablet? Do you have a link to one, it is already in a case because it is an external hdd, never heard of a NAS enclosure though, they sound very good! I see they are like a mini server?

ES File Explorer can access network shares.
