Do OCUK sell these?
Im kinda clueless on where to look, but what im after is an external hard drive that can plug into a tv and play the files, looking at something called 'Mvix' which seems like it works, but is there a popular one?
Sorry for my lack of understanding, information is much appreciated
Thanks.

I have the Mvix MV-5000U, and bought a seagate 320gb drive for it, its a brill player, it plays whatever I throw at it. it supports:

video formats including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, AVI, DivX 3.11, 4x, 5x, XVID, DVD(IFO,VOB), VCD(DAT), etc.

Digital Music Box : MviX can play various audio files such as AC3, MP2, MP3, DTS pass through, WMA, OGG through TV speakers or your existing audio system.

Digital Photo Album : MviX can display a slideshow of digital photo files and display them to TV or projector. Store JPEG photos directly from a PC through the USB 2.0 interface and enjoy a slide show for your family and friends without using a computer.

Plus its got loads of connections on the back

I might upgrade it to the wireless network media player, but Im more then happy with the mv-5000u, as its a superb player

Edit: Its so much eaiser then having a dvd player, cos with the media player everything is on there and waiting to be played, plus you can take your entire music and dvd collection to your mates house, and it comes with a carry case too. heres a pic of the mv-5000u

Just over £100 then about £50 for a hdd, but you can get them with the hdd included. I dont think Mvix make the MV-5000U anymore, its the MV-5000R, basically lookes the same as a MV-5000U, but I guess it supports more video formats, ect.. But mvix do a wireless network media player, the MX-760HD so you can transfer your files from your pc to the media player wirelessly

I ordered mine from KJ Global

Edit: Pics or the wireless version

Is the wireless model compatible with the new N standard?

And any chance it can double up as a freeview box/recorder too?

Im still looking mate, Its all really quite new to me, I cant really understand why these don't seem as popular as they should be, doesn't seem to be that many.
I think ive concluded that im not going to buy one of the latest ones though, so im looking into the cheaper ones, looking at the 'Aqua 3.5" Multi Media Centre Player' at the moment, what you think?
Thanks a lot for the help.

I'd never actually heard of/seen these until now, look pretty cool, not something I'd rush out and buy but it'd be something fun to have at some point. Thanks for the heads-up.

Like I only heard about the mv-5000u about a year ago, and I had to have one cos they looked so cool and small and plus you can take your entire dvd and music collection to your mates and just hook it up to there tv or hi-fi, and away you go, amazing idea. :p Oh yeh my mv-5000u has a fm transmitter built in too

Ive never regreted buying mine and now I would be lost without it. heres a pic of my mv-5000u with my TV setup
