external SCSI drive

i can get 1 for free but would need to get a card, the person with it just now says its much slower than his internal drives on his card. Is that just gonna mean its a slow drive or is it his card? its supposed to be the same speed as the internal 1s

IDE/SATA drives are very fast these days

same as that except external. The internal 1s are the same spec too but the external is 1/2 the speed apparently. Makes me wonder if its worth bothering with. If they are the same spec shouldnt matter if its external or internal right?

I'm no SCSI pro but yeh, afaik external SCSI shouldn't provide any performance hit unless the port is slow or based on an old SCSI technology.

If you get the drive you can always RMA it if it's borked, unless it's OEM through a server manufacturer.
