External SSD - Samsung?

Looking at picking up an external SSD drive for lightroom storage on the move. Was thinking of the Samsung T1 250GB

From what I can see (as in a quick Google) this is the only reputable brand producing an external SSD at the minute.

Is this the case? or are there any other recommendations?

I'd buy a ~£10 USB3 case and any SSD.

I like the Orico 2.5 inch usb 3 enclosures, nicely rounded edges.



I have 30GB SSD in mine, I use it as a driver store / useful utilities drive.

I'm concerned about durability though, I'll be travelling. The T1 looks like a solid product.

Plus, if the connector breaks, you can take it apart and get the drive out. (albeit an m.2 drive).



Many alternative drives have the USB connector directly on the drive, which is a terrible design.

I did some searching and found a speed test and was blown away at how quick it is, and the size of it...I bought one

Are there any caddy's that are USB3 + thunderbolt. So I can use my Mac and PC with the same storage device?

If you do get something for this, format the device as exFAT. Anything else is a pain to use on both systems.

Had a WD elements style USB3 enclosure with a 120GB SSD but the connector ended up breaking away from the board inside so wouldnt recommend those.
