A friend at work has a 500gb Maxtor basics External HDD.
It's been working OK for many months but now it just shows up as an un-Partitioned drive. windows device manager sees it OK and drive management sees the drive but only as unallocated space.
I've run some tools and the drive shows up as healthy, just seems like the Partition has disappeared.
Is there any chance of recovering the data?
If so, what free tools are available?
