External usb hdd.

If you don't want an external PSU then the drive will have to be a 2.5" HHD (don't know of any 1.8" devices yet).

All the drives on this page should be USB powered although only the WD ones specifically say on the product pages. Alternatively you could get one of these and and HDD from here separately.
 
When they designed the usb bus they could have provided a little more power than 2.5 watts. Do people not think to the future when they design these things?
