I hope i am not breakingt rules here but i think its a lkittle far to be competition for ocuk so i need to quote a price.

Today i realised just how much pc shops take advantage of customers, i walked into my small local computer shop greeted by the box of an 8800gt and thought to myself ooooh there working fast then i had a look at the price. lol i think you may need to sit down and brace youself for this, £300 yes you wread write £300 and ill spell it for you as well three hundred english pounds.
i felt like swearing at the man behind the counter but restrained myself.
thing is i know someone will end up buying one, im thinking of pickiting outside the shop just to put a stop to there greed.

You'll spell it for me, will you? :D

I agree though, some of the smaller shops do take advantage. I done my work experience for one that dealt in only laptops/accesories and they charged someone £15 for a DSL filter :/

If you really want your eye balls to pop out, ask them how much their HDMI cables are :)

Is the shop in question a major competitor or just a local shop?

To be honest, if I was running a local PC shop I'd buy last generation kit (939 Athlons, x1900's, 9600pros, 6600gt's, 7800gt's) and slap an extra £30-£50 on top of what you'd expect to pay.

In a local shop where you may only see 10-20 people a day, and perhaps not even half of those purchase something over the value of £40 - the people that aren't computer literate and aware of the fact that their £70 graphics card that says 512mb of memory on it performs better than a £200 8800GTS because it's only got 320mb of memory - are the very same people that are the bread and butter of your business.

It's annoying to see people get ripped off, but these people need to make a living.

And when they get home and plug in their £70 graphics card with the go faster stripe on it - I'm sure they believe that their computer is three times as fast at opening MS Paint than it was before.
