Hi I want to set-up two extra drives in raid 0, to make 4 drives in total. The other 2 drives are not in raid. Is this possible? Every raid guide I've found so far tells how to set-up up raid on your main drives, reinstalling windows, floppy drive etc.

Can I just plug in the drives and go from there?
Many thanks

If the controller supports online capacity expansion then you could in theory expand the array onto the new drives. If they're larger than the existing ones you could end up losing some capacity, if they're smaller it won't work.

If you don't have OCE support then you could image the current array, rebuild it using 4 disks and restore the image. Again the same issues with drive sizes apply.

In both cases you'll need to worry about expanding the existing partition(s) either after the capacity expansion or as part of the image restore.

Finally remember if the 4 disk array is > 2Tb then you can't do this - you can't boot from a volume larger than 2Tb regardless of partition sizes.
