Hi all

I have 2x150gb raptors in Raid 0 with OS installed on comp. I have a 320gb WD Passport for backup (in safe place and only plug in USB once in a while to add necessary files I want backups for).

However I would like to add a 3.5" 1.5TB WD green or equivalent on my PC as extra storage of audio/video. Is it possible to just add this to my comp without screwing up my current Raid 0? or am I stuck using external USB hard drives if i want to keep my Raid 0?

thx

No, you can run extra drives in addition to the RAID array off the same controller without any problems. The additional disk will just appear as a "Non RAID Volume" on the Intel RAID BIOS splash screen, you then just deal with it in the normal way once inside Windows.

I have a SSD RAID 0 boot array and a Samsung F1 (2 x 1Tb) RAID 1 Data Storage array all running off an ICH10R onboard controller - works fine, and gives the added benefit of mirroring to all my data (I even keep my Acronis drive images on the RAID 1 array) Or as has been said you can just leave extra drives as single drives.
