Extracting data from a hard drive.

Trying to extract some files out of a hard drive that won't boot. The files are in "my documents" and the message says access denied. How do I get at the files.?

Looks like you need to take ownership of the drive. Right click on the drive, click on properties and then security, have a look in the options for ownership

You might need to make an account with the same username/password (and login with it) as the drive your trying to extract from is if that doesn't work.
