Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in EXTRACTION 2 - only on Netflix, June 16.

After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. Hemsworth reunites with director Sam Hargrave, with Joe and Anthony Russo's AGBO producing and Joe Russo writing. Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, with Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili also co-starring.

This is a sequel to the first film that was based on the graphic novel 'Ciudad' by Ande Parks, from a story by Ande Parks, Joe Russo & Anthony Russo, with illustrations by Fernando León González. EXTRACTION 2 is produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Chris Hemsworth, Patrick Newall and Sam Hargrave, with Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Benjamin Grayson, Steven Scavelli, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely as executive producers.

Great teaser. Much prefer to see a small scene in isolation to whet your appetite - rather than a whole film's story arc condensed into 2 minutes.

I managed to see the first film out of boredom. Browsing the usual streaming services then onto Netflix. Saw this and thought, yeah I like Chris, looks like a "straight to video" type of movie, eg: not much of a plot, cheap SFX, cheesy script, easy watch. That type of movie. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. Such a great action flick, amazing fight scenes and a fairly easy to good script, top production. I think I have seen it 3 or 4 times now.

bring on number 2

1st one was really good, I can see this becoming a franchise, if the 2nd one is also a hit.

Dare I say it, maybe the biggest movie success for Netflix to date? The only other movie that was made by Netflix to even get a sequel, off the top of my head, is Murder Mystery.

I don't even know how Netflix is affording such expensive content (I'm sure Thor and the Russo's don't come cheap!).

slightly OT: There seems to be a lot of Russo Brothers stuff recently. Do they have the midas touch, when it comes to streaming? (Extraction 1 & 2, The Gray Man, Citadel), or do they just get unlimited money now due to the success of the Avengers movies?
