--this belongs more in the hard drive forums now.--
well basically, whenever i run windows defrag and it gets to the stage of defragging, the cpu usage jumps up to 50%, then 1%, then every app i click on freezes? and when i do it in safe mode, the cpu usage is ALWAYS 50% with no apps having any cpu usage? (might just be the fact the amd optimizer doesnt load in safe mode though?) im thinking virus or corrupted files? chkdsk ran fine and brought up nothing. temps are fine for all components.
edit: this doesnt look good.. got a read error when i did hdtune.. going to do the error scan on hd tune, and see if anything comes up. i hope its not a damaged hard drive, i messed around with gparted and linux abit so the partitions might be damaged or something :\ ill try reseating the sata cable no matter what the results of the scan are. also doing sfc /scannow.
edit2: at roughly 32gb, the scan goes down to ~5mb/s
i think the drive is dying
i did the quick scan though (takes about 70 seconds) and it didnt pick any errors on that. sfc found 0 errors.
edit3: used the western digital tools and it seems it is dying
rma time i think
might try backing everything up, writing zeros then reinstalling first though, i dont know though.
